Walk on the Wild Side

For Robyn Reynolds, painting is more than creating art – it's her chance to switch off, breathe deeply and get completely lost in the creative process. Every painting takes on a life of its own, and she loves not knowing exactly where it will end up. That's part of the joy.

Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, Robyn creates expressive, contemporary artworks full of colour, texture and personality. Through playful mark-making, layered paint, bold patterns and organic shapes, she builds pieces that invite you to slow down, look a little closer and discover something new each time.

She loves experimenting with different techniques, using everything from palette knives and her fingertips to scratching back through layers of paint. Recently, she's been drawn to painting faces, exploring expression through colour, texture and the little imperfections that make each portrait unique.

Robyn believes art doesn't have to be perfect – it just has to make you feel something. She embraces the unexpected, allowing each painting to evolve naturally rather than forcing it in a particular direction. The result is artwork that's full of energy, emotion and its own unique character.

Naming each painting is just as instinctive as creating it. Rather than deciding on a title beforehand, Robyn waits until the artwork tells her what it's called. Often, the name simply appears as the painting comes to life. With her portraits especially, it feels as though the person on the canvas quietly introduces themselves.
